I started delving into aviation at the age of 14. Every school break I had, I would volunteer at the Falkland Islands Government Air Service (FIGAS) to gain experience and purely for the love of the job. This included your everyday line maintenance to getting stuck in with skin/structural repairs on major inspections. Since finishing school, I went on to gain an apprenticeship with FIGAS as a trainee aircraft engineer, allowing me to further my career in the aviation industry. I am actively gaining my Part 66 1.2 license as well as the hopes to gain my 1.3 to widen my horizons and have the chance to work on rotary aircrafts. I am a hard working individual who takes pride in their work. I try my very best at anything thrown at me and I will try to learn as much as possible along the way.
I currently have six years of experience in the industry, and during this time I have gained a deep understanding of the time pressures within the industry as well as the importance of meeting deadlines. I am fully aware that safety is a major aspect of the job, and I follow company guidelines to ensure the workplace is as safe as possible.
During my school holidays I would volunteer at FIGAS to gain as much mechanical experience as I could, As well as to gain a deeper understanding of what the aviation world was like.
